Erin's
Home' - Greater Glider The greater glider is a marsupial possum and is closely related to the lemuroid ringtail possum. The greater glider has a flap of skin along each side as does the lemuroid, but this skin has evolved into an expandable membrane that allows it to glide. It is the longest glider in the world with a head and body length of up to 45cm and a non prehensile tail length of about 60cm. It can glide for up to 100 meters and turn in mid-glide. Their fur may be gray, dark brown or white. It inhabits the canopy of the tall eucalypt forests of the east coast of Australia and feeds on eucalypt leaves and buds and rests in high tree hollows during the day. Erin
was rescued by a wildlife carer. She had fallen onto a roof and broken her tail.
Eventually her tail had to be removed but she recovered and was released back
into the wild.

Superb View - Superb Lyrebird Size
36cm (14") x 56cm (22") These unique birds are elusive and their coloring appears dull at a quick glance. If you have time to watch them you will become fascinated with their life and their beauty. Their coloring is not dull at all, in fact the rich color effects in certain lights are beautiful. They are skilled mimics. Not only can they mimic the sounds and birds of the bush but if they are exposed to other noises they can skillfully copy them as well.
